MESSAGE FROM DIRECTOR / HEAD, (ORIC)

I am honored to address you as the Director/Head of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at GNIES, and I am excited to share our collective vision for the future of research and innovation at our esteemed institution.
Our objectives at the ORIC align seamlessly with the broader vision of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), focusing on elevating research as a key driver for sustainable economic growth and the development of a knowledge economy. As we embark on this journey, it is imperative that we, as a community, fully embrace and actively contribute to the realization of these objectives.

1. Promoting a Culture of Research
Our first priority is to foster a research-oriented culture within GNIES. I encourage each one of you to actively engage in research activities, be it faculty, researchers, or students. Through awareness initiatives, we will highlight the pivotal role research plays in both academic and economic advancement.

2. Facilitating Research Proposal Development
We are committed to supporting and guiding researchers in developing high-quality research proposals. Identifying funding opportunities and assisting in the preparation of competitive grant applications will be central to our mission to secure the necessary resources for groundbreaking research.

3. Coordinating Research Activities
As the central point for research coordination, the ORIC will facilitate collaboration and interdisciplinary research initiatives among faculty members and departments. Together, we will create an environment that nurtures innovative thinking and impactful research.
4. Ensuring Ethical Research Practices
Ethical standards are paramount in our pursuit of knowledge. The ORIC will establish and enforce ethical guidelines, providing training and resources to ensure our research practices are not only cutting-edge but also ethically sound.

5. Enhancing Research Infrastructure
Identifying and addressing the infrastructure needs of our researchers is vital. Collaboration with relevant departments will ensure access to state-of-the-art facilities, empowering our researchers to push the boundaries of knowledge.

6. Supporting Technology Transfer and Commercialization
The ORIC will actively facilitate the transfer of technology and knowledge from academia to industry. Collaborations between researchers and industry partners will be promoted to maximize the commercial potential of our research outcomes.

7. Monitoring and Evaluating Research Performance
Developing robust mechanisms to monitor and assess the impact and quality of our research outputs is key. Establishing KPIs will allow us to measure the effectiveness of our initiatives, enabling us to adapt and refine our strategies accordingly.

8. Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship
We encourage the development of innovative solutions and products arising from our research activities. The ORIC will support the entrepreneurial spirit among researchers and students, fostering the creation of startups and spin-off companies.

9. Strengthening Industry-Academia Linkages
Forge strong partnerships with industries, fostering collaboration on research projects and initiatives. Identifying opportunities for joint ventures, internships, and collaborative research with the corporate sector will be a priority.

10. Disseminating Research Findings
Facilitating the dissemination of research findings through publications, conferences, and other knowledge-sharing platforms is essential. I urge all researchers to actively contribute to the academic community and broader society through the sharing of knowledge.
By collectively pursuing these objectives, the ORIC at GNIES will play a pivotal role in advancing our institution's research agenda and contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of our region. I invite each one of you to actively participate in this transformative journey, as together, we shape the future of research and innovation at GNIES.
